The Bribery and Corruption Commission has initiated an inquiry and obtained the records of cash rewards payments made to Customs Officers from the Customs Department, Colombo Telegraph reliably learns.

Colombo Telegraph exposed that certain dishonest officers in the Customs have recovered hundreds of millions of tax revenue as penalties and have shared over 1/3 of such recoveries as cash rewards, denying the government colossal loss of tax revenue.
