The number of Cabinet of Ministers of the new National Government will be limited to 35, political sources said.
Out of them, 19 Cabinet Ministerial Portfolios will be assigned to the UNP, while 16 Cabinet of Ministers will be appointed from the SLFP.
Six SLFP candidates, who were defeated at the General Elections, have been given the opportunity to enter Parliament from the National List.
Out of them, Mahinda Samarasinghe, S. B. Dissanayake, Vijith Vijithamuni Zoysa and Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena are also likely to receive Cabinet Ministerial Portfolios.
The UNP has decided to re-appoint its Cabinet Ministers in the interim government to the new national government as well. In addition, there will be four new faces among the 19 Cabinet Ministerial portfolios allocated to the UNP. They are Malik Samarawickrama, Sagala Ratnayake, Vajira Abeywardena and Harin Fernando.
Meanwhile, veteran politician and UNP deputy leader Karu Jayasuriya is tipped to be the next Speaker of Parliament. Karu Jayasuriya has been included in the UNP National List.
